"Laundry Comments " (세탁물 평가하기)

A young couple moves into a new neighborhood.   (한 젊은 부부가 새 이웃으로 이사 왔다.)

The next morning while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside.     (다음 날 아침 그들이 아침 식사를 할 때, 젊은 부인이 자기 이웃이 마당에 세탁물을 걸고 있는 것을 보았다. )

"That laundry is not very clean," she said. "She doesn't know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap." Her husband looked on, but remained silent.    (그 부인은 “세탁물이 영 깨끗하지가 않네. 저 아줌마는 세탁하는 법을 잘 모르는 것 같아. 아무래도 더 좋은 세탁비누를 써야 할 것 같아.”라고 말했다. 그 말하는 여자의 남편도 물끄러미 보았으나 아무 말 없이 조용히 있기만 했다.)

Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman would make the same comments.    (그런데 옆집 여자가 세탁물을 말리려고 옷을 걸 때 마다,  그 젊은 부인은 똑 같은 말을 하곤 했다.)

About one month later, the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband: "Look, she has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this?"   (한 달쯤 지난 후에, 그 여자는 빨래줄에 아주 깨끗한 빨래가 걸려 있는 것을 보고서는 깜짝 놀랐다.  “저 것 봐요. 저 여자가 이제 똑바로 세탁하는 법을 배웠나 봐요. 근데 대체 누가 세탁법을 가르쳐 준건지 궁금하네.” )

The husband said, "I got up early this morning and cleaned our windows."  (남편 왈, “오늘 아침에는 좀 일찍 일어나서, 우리 창문을 깨끗이 닦았지 뭐.”)

**ㅎㅎㅎㅎ 이웃집 빨래가 더러운 게 아니고, 자기집 창문이 더러웠네요. ㅎㅎㅎㅎ
