Lose the Cat(고양이를 버리다)

A man hated his wife's cat and he decided to get rid of it.

어떤 남편이 자기 아내 고양이를 무척 싫어해서 없애버리기로 결심했다.

He drove 20 blocks away from home and dropped the cat there.

그가 집에서 20블록 떨어진 곳으로 운전을 해서 그곳에 고양이를 떨어뜨렸다.

The cat was already walking up the driveway when he approached his home.

그런데 그가 집에 다다랐을 때 고양이는 벌써 찻길을 걸어오고 있었다.

The next day, he decided to drop the cat 40 blocks away but the same thing

happened.

다음 날, 그는 40블록 떨어진 곳에 고양이를 떨어뜨리기로 했으나 똑같은 일이 일어났다.

He kept on increasing the number of blocks but the cat kept on coming home

before him.

그 남자는 블록수를 계속 늘렸으나 고양이 역시 자기보다 먼저 집으로 오고 있었다.

At last, he decided to drive a few miles away, turn right, then left, past the bridge,

then right again and another right and so on until he reached what he thought was a perfect spot and dropped the cat there.

결국 그는 몇 마일이나 떨어진 곳으로 차를 몰고 가서, 오른쪽으로 틀고, 왼쪽으로 틀고, 다리도 건너고, 또다시 오른쪽으로 틀었다가, 또 오른쪽으로 틀고 자기가 완전히 되었다고 생각하는 지점에 다다를 때까지 계속하고서야 그곳에 고양이를 떨어뜨렸다.

Hours later, the man calls his wife at home and asked her, "Jen, is the cat there?"

몇 시간 후에 그 친구는 집에 있는 부인에게 전화를 걸어 물었다. “젠, 고양이 거기 있어?”

"Yes, why do you ask?” answered the wife.

“예, 왜 물어요?” 라고 부인이 대답했다.

Frustrated the man said, "Put that cat on the phone. I am lost and I need

directions."

얼빠진 그 남자 왈, “고양이 전화 바꿔줘. 내가 길을 잃어버려서 방향을 좀 알아야 해.”

 

*ㅎㅎㅎㅎ 이 친구 고양이 버리려다 자기 길 잃어버렸네? ㅎㅎㅎㅎ
